― Rachel Carson, Silent Spring
In the vast fields of Dobrava, sits a cluster of 20th century farms. At the corner of the complex, a small road leads into the quiet forest. There you see an earth house, inspired by the archetype of the 20th century farm that is self-evident and durable. Masked behind its walls is a sensual and warm interior. The Cast Away Home is an experimental rammed earth house. This house experiments with three of rammed earth’s characteristics: compressive structure, cast building technique, and handcraft.
